Dragon Age: Journeys Announced

Bioware has announced a browser-based version of Dragon Age: Origins, called Dragon Age: Journeys, developed by “EA 2D, BioWare, and some of the hottest indie talent from the flash developer community.”

We have some big plans for Journeys. The first piece that we are currently building is a 3 chapter, single player, tactical rpg delivered in Flash. Right now we’re hard at work finishing the first chapter, Dragon Age Journeys: The Deep Roads. The game will introduce you to the dwarven city of Orzammar and the Deep Roads surrounding it where the dwarves face a persistent threat from the darkspawn hordes.

The flash game will serve as a prequel to Origins. There is no release date yet for The Deep Roads, but it looks like a fantastic way to play Dragon Age on the go, with some Heroes of Might & Magic-style gameplay.

Let us know what you think.

Vector Conflict: The Siege is a shooter style game done in flash. The goal of the game is to shoot everything that comes flying at your base. The player is the last hope to save the base and all the people’s lives are depending on you. vector-conflict-siege

The game takes place in space and each enemy planes or tanks that come to attack has different levels of armor. The beginning level tanks are easy to kill and as the waves of enemies increase there are more tanks that take multiple shots to kill. Players get bigger weapons as the levels increase to deal with the tougher enemies. There are rockets, EMPs and eventually nukes to help combat the enemies. Players use the mouse to aim and the mouse button to shoot. Rockets are shot with the space bar and the EMPs are used by pressing the E key.

The controls in Vector Conflict: The Siege can take a little getting use to if you haven’t played many shooter games. There are three different modes of play, easy, medium and hard. The easy mode is for players that are new to shooter style games, but the controls still take some time to get use to. There is a lot going on at one time. The screen can be turned by using the A and D keys, since enemies can come on all sides of the screen. The radar shows which direction the enemies are approaching the base.

Over all, Vector Conflict: The Siege offers good game play to pass the time, especially, if you like shooter style games. If you are not into shooter style games, you may not have an interest in this game, but it is worth checking out. You have nothing to lose, since the game is free.

Flash Game: Go Home Ball

go-home-ballGo Home Ball is a physics type game written in flash. The goal of the game is to get the ball home, as the name implies. The ball is lost in the forest and it needs to get home. The challenge is there are gaping holes in the ball’s path.

Players are given sticks and other items, at times, to get the ball safely to its home. The sticks will close the gaps and allow the ball to roll over the gaps on its way home. As if the gaps in the paths aren’t challenging enough, the items that close the gaps only last for two seconds when they are placed down. Players have to time the placing of the objects correctly or the ball will still fall into the gaps.

Go Home Ball can be extremely challenging. Players have to balance getting the object to close the gap with the right timing. The ball is rolling and comes quick when you are trying to close the gaps. Eventually, you get the hang of it and the levels become a bit easier, but they are still not easy. If you are looking for a challenging physics game, check out Go Home Ball.

Flash Game: Zodiac Reactor

Zodiac Reactor is a flash based puzzle/action game. There is a lot going on in the game. It can take a few times through the game before you get the hang of it. The goal of the game is to collect the correct color elements in your ractor. The elements are collected by hitting one of the arrow keys, which changes the color of the reactor. The reactor needs to be blue to collect blue items and red to collect red items and so on. zodiac-reactor

The action part of the game comes into play when you have to collect the items. Players have to recognize which color is coming and then hit the cooridinating arrow on the keyboard. It takes a while for your brain to hit the correct arrow at the correct time. Once players get the hang of the arrows and collecting items, they throw obstacles in the way.

The obstacles can be stopped by hitting the space bar, which puts up the shields. If the obstacles are not blocked, they will enter the reactor and blow things up. If the reactor blows up, the game is over. Players have to start over again and attempt to keep the obstacles from blowing up their reactor.

Over all, Zodiac Reactor is tough in the beginning, but once your brain sorts out the controls, it becomes a lot easier. If players hang in there, there is a good mix between fun and challenge. The game  is fast paced and challenging, but can be fun. If you are looking for a fun game to play that offers some challenge, check out Zodiac Reactor.
