An iOS app adaptation of the popular co-op board game Pandemic was being developed for the past two years, when a change in publisher Z-Man’s ownership scotched the plans.

The developer told his story on Gamasutra, and posted a demo gameplay video as seen above.

G5 Entertainment has announced that Stand O’Food 3, the third chapter of the burger-flipping puzzle/strategy series will be landing on iPhone, iPad and Android mobiles on September 15.

The third game finds Stand O’Food has become one of the most popular and prosperous fast food chains in the country. After interviews, TV shows and accolades for his services by customers – fast food entrepreneur Ronnie is riding the wave of success in his hometown where he extends the operations of the Stand O’Food chain to Tinseltown. It is here where he meets Nikki and Mr. Clarence, disrupting the revenge plans of evil Mr. Torg.

In Stand O’Food 3, Ronnie now can prepare all kinds of tasty lasagnas and cakes, along with delicious snacks. Players can refine recipes with different flavored sauces like curry, chocolate, spice or blueberry. Customers now have different food preferences, so players will have to plan their moves in advance. As the player earns cash, they’re able to purchase various items, like new and better French fry machines, soda fountains, jukeboxes and extra plates.

The game features 75 levels, with over 33 purchasable upgrades to make customers happy and the restaurant chain prosperous. The game now includes 31 ingredients, 18 sauces and 90 tasty recipes to feed customers in 25 cafes around the city.

Storm8 has announced three new “fremium” MMO games that play off your Android mobile device, using Google’s mobile OS. The MMOs are simple simulation and role-playing games — City Story, Fashion Story and Zoo Story. The games were quietly launched in the past few weeks on Android, but Storm8 is officially announcing them now.

City Story allows you can create a virtual city with all types of businesses, residences, and decor you can purchase and place anywhere you choose. You earn money from factory contracts, cleaning buildings and gifts from your neighbors – who are either AI or real-life Facebook friends. Fashion Story has the player running a clothing boutique, where they choose and stock the very latest fashions and designs, then layout the store and changing rooms before preparing for the shopping rush. Players can visit friends’ boutiques, and “like” items and give gifts. Finally, Zoo Story has players raising animals like snow leopards, tigers, koalas, zebras, crocodiles, ostriches and pandas, breeding and raising baby animals, and building crops to feed said animals.

All of the games are free MMOs, but supported by microtransaction content purchases. Previous “Story” games include Bakery Story and Restaurant Story.

The Facebook version of Sid Meier’s famous strategy game, Civilization World, is now in open beta for all who want to check it out. Meier himself worked on the social network-powered Civ title.

Civilization World features you starting your own region, and getting friends to collaborate with you to form a civilization to conquer others. Players co-ordinate in churning out production or culture, while researching technologies and sharing advances. The game stresses co-operation and competition on a few levels.

“Civ World games will have a well-defined beginning and end, each ending with a triumphant civilization and one person recognised as that game’s most prestigious player,” Meier posted on the Facebook page. ”Along the way, as you progress through the different eras of time, you’ll have the chance to win era victories as well. We want players to have both a final goal to work towards, as well as short-term objectives to achieve as they play.”

“The trophies you unlock with your triumphs will carry over from game to game, and you can show them off in your throne room.”

The game is free to play, with some microtransaction monetization, but players can’t buy their way to victory. Check it out here.

Astraware and Sandlot Games has announced the release of Tradewinds 2 for Barnes & Noble’s NOOK Color. Tradewinds has not been offered on any Android platform before now and is exclusive to the NOOK Color.

Tradewinds 2 for the NOOK Color is based off of the PC game by the same name. Players take on the role of a commander of a ship. They have to set up trade routes between other ships or plunder the pirates and steal their booty. If you are not adventurous, players can avoid the pirates and stick to legal trading to amass a great wealth.

“With its strong storyline elements, a wealth of missions and tasks to complete, and multiple ways to play the game, we’re sure that Tradewinds 2 will appeal to NOOK Color users” said Howard Tomlinson, CEO of Astraware. “The game is as immersive as a good page-turner!”
