Partake In High Speed Police Chases on the iPhone

Hands-On Mobile has announced the release of COPS: High Speed Pursuit for the iPhone/iPod Touch. Players can perform their own high speed chases as they track down dangerous criminals. The game is based on the TV show and allows players to experience the thrill of the chase.

There are fifteen different levels to challenge players. Players take control of the wheel and race through the Florida Everglades, the mountainous passes of the Pacific Northwest, the dusty, winding roads of Route 66, and the traffic-clogged freeways of Los Angeles. To control the car, players tap on the on screen accelerator and use the accelerometer to steer the car. The goal is to take down the criminals with minimal damage to civilians. If players can manage to complete the levels with minimum damage, they will be rewarded with more money, which will allow them to unlock the best cars.

“COPS: High Speed Pursuit lets players feel the exhilaration of a high speed police chase,” said Lynn Monica, VP & GM of Mobile Games, Hands-On Mobile. “Fans of the COPS television series will be able to experience all the action and excitement from the show right on their iPhone and iPod touch.”

If you are into racing games or like the COPS TV show, check out COPS: High Speed Pursuit in the Apple App store.

Smash Cars Coming To PlayStation Network

smash-cars-2TikGames and Creat Studios have announced the upcoming release of Smash Cars on the PlayStation Network. The new version of Smash Cars is a follow up to the version released back in 2003. Players race radio controlled (RC) cars in a “no rules” setting.

The game provides real time physics and innovative stunts as players race around the curvy tracks to try to attain as many points as possible before reaching the finish line. The more stunts performed the more points players will achieve. It is not enough to just finish first, but it does help. Players race around the track from a point of view of inside the tiny RC car.

“Smash Cars brings an exciting new action racing experience unlike anything else.  TikGames is excited to work with Creat Studios to bring another innovative, high-end title to gamers on the PlayStation® Network,” said Anatoly Tikhman, Founder and CEO of TikGames, LLC.

Smash Cars is set to release on August 20th on the PlayStation Network.

Burnin’ Rubber 3 Review

Burnin' Rubber 3Browser-based games are beginning to grow so sophisticated that they resemble less casual games and more the cool PlayStation One and PC titles gamers enjoyed a while ago; Battlefield Heroes and Quake III: Arena are prime examples. Burnin’ Rubber 3 is another, available at Shockwave.com.

Burnin’ Rubber 3 is an arcade racer that anyone familiar with Burnout or Twisted Metal will instantly feel at home with. The premise is simple: you do a series of races and matches, buying upgrades and weaponry as you go along. There are several racing modes to choose from from simple races and elimination modes to combat oriented competitions in which you blow up opponents or simply the world to gain points.  The better you do, the more cash you earn, and the better the vehicles you can afford and upgrade. The races are quick and snappy, perfect for a 10 minute break from work or some lunchtime fun.

What makes Burnin’ Rubber 3 special is the overall high production value. Even though the game is browser-based and free, you don’t feel like you’re playing some cheap knock off. Rather, you feel like you’ve pirated a classic racer. The graphics are very well done, and the game has a polished sheen to it. The only quibble is the keyboard-based control which makes driving somewhat clunky; racing games need analog controls to deal with the subtlety of vehicle driving.

Burnin’ Rubber 3 is free to play, but in order to play multiplayer games, upload high scores or win prizes, one must join the Shockwave Club ($2.95/mo minimum); fortunately, the Club involves all of Shockwave’s flash games. You can try the game out free of charge here. Check it out – it’s a real winner.
