Zuma’s Revenge Now Available

Popcap has issued a press release announcing that Zuma’s Revenge is now available for PC and Mac. Aside from some of the usual graphic upgrades (triple the screen resolution, 3-D particle effects, widescreen monitor support), the game adds to the original game’s control scheme, allowing the player to make his frog hop from lily pad to lily pad. In addition, there will be level bosses which require special attack and defend forms to defeat.

Features in Zuma’s Revenge! include, according to the press release:

  • More than 60 all-new levels in the Adventure mode alone
  • Six mini-game Boss Battles that introduce explosive new attacks and wily defenses
  • Three all-new power-up effects: Lightning, Laser, and Tri-Shot (plus all the power-ups from the original Zuma)
  • New methods of movement like lily-pad hopping, slide-aiming, and more
  • 70 all-new Challenges in the Jungle of Mystery, Quiet Village, Lost City and Mosquito Coast – featuring new bonus multiplier effects in a beat-the-clock format.
  • Run the Iron Frog gauntlet featuring an additional 10 all-new levels that must be conquered consecutively
  • Get hoppin’ in Heroic Frog mode, offering tougher, nearly infinite replayability of Adventure mode

You can check out Zuma’s Revenge at the official site here to buy the game or try the demo.

Plants Vs. Zombies to XBLA

Escapist Magazine is reporting the inevitable: Plants Vs. Zombies is headed to Xbox Live Arcade. It is inevitable because every popular Popcap title has made its way to the Xbox 360, such as Peggle.

The company doesn’t have “any other details” as far as basically anything else goes, PopCap’s Cathy Orr told us. No release window, nothing about new content, nada. But I imagine that it’ll be essentially the same game with maybe some added goodies.

What Achievements would you like to see from Plants Vs. Zombies? And when will Bejeweled Twist show up?

You can read Casual Gamer Chick’s review of the game here.

Plants Vs. Zombies Popcap’s Fastest Seller

Plants Vs. Zombies has become Popcap’s fastest selling game ever, reports Joystiq.

Popcap won’t divulge the exact numbers, but they state it’s sold faster than any other title in the last few weeks in their history, including Bejeweled and Peggle. Those games aren’t exactly slouches, so Plants Vs. Zombies must have really touched the sweet spot. Maybe it was the music video.

According to Joystiq:

PopCap’s Garth Chouteau believes this is just the tip of the iceberg for the the fauna vs. undead simulator. Telling Joystiq, “It’s as strategic as any game launched this year … in it’s own humble cutesy sort of way.” He believes that players will continue to find incredible depth in the title, especially after they are done with the adventure’s story and move into the survival mode.

Why is it so hot? Just read our review and find out.
