Bibi Blocksberg – The Broom Race Review

Bibi Blocksberg – The Broom Race is a racing game for the iPhone/iPod Touch. Players get to experience a racing game with a twist. Instead of racing cars or trucks around a track, players are racing brooms.

The game begins and players have to pick the person they would like to race as. The next selection is the track. Players can choose a number of different tracks and each of the tracks have their own challenges. Players can choose to race against other people or do a timed race.

The controls take a race or two to get use to. The racer is controlled by tilting the iPhone/iPod Touch. The controls seem a bit sensitive at first until you get the hang of tilting the device just slightly.

The graphics in Bibi Blocksberg – The Broom Race are very well done. The courses are clear and easy to see where you have to go and the characters are done well, too.

Over all, Bibi Blocksberg – The Broom Race is a fun and entertaining game. Players have the choice of playing against other real life players using open feint or racing against computer controlled players. This racing game takes racing games and puts a spin on them. There are plenty of games that race cars or trucks, but there aren’t that many where you are racing on brooms. If you are looking for a fun racing game, you can’t go wrong with Bibi Blocksberg – The Broom Race.

Bibi Blocksberg – The Broom Race can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.

Fantastic Pets Coming to Kinect

It looks like Kinectimals will be having competition in March 2011, as THQ has announced Fantastic Pets, which will allow gamers to have unicorns and dragons as pets instead of tigers.

According to the presser:

“Fantastic Pets offers an incredibly high level of interactivity, creativity and originality,” said Martin Good, Executive Vice President, THQ Kids, Family, Casual Games, and Global Online Services. “As you discover your pet’s personality and become enmeshed within the world, Fantastic Pets becomes more like a personalized adventure and less like a game.”

Well, at least it isn’t My Little Pony.

Google Acquires Slide

Google continues to acquire social gaming sites. Two weeks ago, Google made a healthy investment on Zynga, best known for Farmville and Mafia Wars. Now, they’ve acquired social networking game publisher Slide – which Facebook users will recognize as the guys behind the SuperPoke app, as well as games like SPP Ranch, SuperPoke Pets, SuperPocus Academy of Magic, and Top Fish – for $182M.

It’s not such a coincidence that the founder of Slide is Max Levchin, who co-founded Paypal. Zynga represents the biggest client of Paypal, and Google will try to funnel monetary exchanges through their own payment proxy service Google Checkout, which allows the convenience of all-in-out account purchasing services through other Google features such as Gmail.

Google is making a huge play to not only usurp Facebook, but Paypal and Microsoft as well, with their Google Chrome web browser and future OS. We’ll keep an eye on this story as it develops.
