About
Who am I?
My name is Jennifer, a stay-at-home mother of two children (ages two and four) who’s found a love for casual video games. Tossing aside a career in information security, I’ve decided it would be more fun to write about the game industry and bring gamers closer to the only true classic art of video games: the casual game. This means I spend much of my time playing casual games and writing about the experiences along with in-depth reviews to let gamers know what type of games are out there in the market. My goal isn’t to rate games based on a numeric value but to give you enough information to decide if a game is right for you.
I’m also the owner and operator of TechDiversions.com, an online video game retail store which specializes in console gaming. My husband helps me run the business and co-hosts the TD Gaming Podcast, which we report game news and talk about gaming history.
What Do I Do?
Besides taking care of my loving children, I spend my day reading press releases, game news and reviewing hot new casual titles hitting the market. You’ll find I like to cover all areas of casual games, not just a single console or PC platform. Casual gamers, typically, have many devices upon which they can casual game including a hand-held product like the Nintendo DS or Sony PSP, a mobile phone like a BlackBerry or iPhone and a personal computer.
The home console market has plenty of casual gaming opportunities with the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 LIVE! Arcade and the Sony PlayStation Network (PSN) so there is un-ending news and events on all the platforms to cover.
Why?
Casual gaming is a growing market and this is the time to be a casual gamer because the spot light is on us! Nintendo has lit up the mainstream media with this thing called the Wii and mom’s and dad’s are starting to figure out that gaming doesn’t have to be complex. As the market heats up, we’re going to need writers to cover all the action and tell you if some games are better than others – that’s what I’m here to do.
Also, my goal is to make a modest income with ad revenue and any partnerships that arise. I’m a stay at home mom but I left a very lucrative job to be with my kids on a daily basis and explore the idea of writing about casual games. Casual Gamer Chick may be a new site on the web but it’s growing quickly and I want to see it be the go to place for casual gaming news.
Contact Me
If you’re looking to promote a new casual game product, let me in on your press release list or just want to send me a hot tip, you can contact me here and I’ll get back to you a.s.a.p. Also, if you want to help support the cause you can donate to help support my efforts!
Thanks!
Jennifer
