Mario Sports Mix

Nintendo has announced the release of Mario Sports Mix for the Nintendo Wii. Mario Sports Mix allows players to compete in four different sports, volleyball, basketball, hockey and dodgeball.

Players are challenged to gain power-ups, navigate obstacles and deal with unexpected twists. Players will have to deal with courts moving from side to side beneath their feet or may have to lob bananas at their opponents. Each character has a special move, such as Mario being able to twirl in the air and dunk the basketball from anywhere on the court.

“With Mario Sports Mix, players get four full sports games packed onto one disc, which is a great value,” said Marc Franklin, Nintendo of America’s director of Public Relations. “In addition, the ability to jump into games as your own Mii character and play with Mario and other Mushroom Kingdom characters makes Mario Sports Mix a unique sports experience that can’t be found anywhere else.”

Mario Sports Mix will set you back $49.99.

Puzzle Bobble Comes to iOS

Taito has announced that the classic Puzzle Bobble (known in some circles as Bust-a-Move) is now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch, with some new features not seen in the original.

The updated version, called New Puzzle Bobble, features a new way to fling bubbles in an attempt to match 3. Joining the regular Tap Shot and Sling Shot is the Jump Shot, which is new to the series. The Jump Shot offers the ability to launch a bubble over interposing obstacles, landing at a point chosen by the player.

Another new feature is the Game Over Countdown. While in previous editions of PUZZLE BOBBLE, bubbles reaching the bottom of the play field instantly led to a Game Over result, NEW PUZZLE BOBBLE offers a three-second countdown, allowing quick-witted players to save themselves from defeat. Particularly helpful for newcomers to the series, the Game Over Countdown adds an additional dimension to play that can also be appreciated by veteran players.

New Puzzle Bobble comes with 80 Story Mode stages and 55 unlockable Achievements, and is available from the iTunes Store for $6.49. You can order the game here.

Web Game: Our Soldiers

Dark Dolmen Studios has announced the release of Our Soldiers, a game that can be played on the web and players can play against each other or the computer. Our Soldiers is a clone of the Worms game, but instead of using little worms to carry out the combat, players use soldiers.

Players can choose from a few different soldiers. Once the soldiers are picked, the game play is very similar to Worms. The terrain is randomly generated and the players are randomly put on the terrain. Each team has to try to be the last one standing. Players attempt to eliminate the other players by using weapons to shoot and kill them.

The game is available on Facebook so players can compete against their friends. If you would like to check the game out, head to their Facebook Community.
