Aqueduct is a unique puzzle game for the iPhone/iPod Touch. Players have to line up the pipes so water can flow again. The pipes are on tiles that can slide around the board. The tiles need to be placed in the correct order for the water to flow.
The correct order is where the puzzle part of the game comes in. Players have to figure out how to arrange the pipes and then have to figure out how to get the pipes arranged in the correct order. The first levels are very simple and act as a tutorial. There are obstacles that pop up and need to be worked around. The tutorials show the player how to maneuver around the obstacles and how to move the pipe tiles around.
The puzzles don’t start getting challenging until the second phase opens up. Each level in the first phase has to be completed before the second phase unlocks. The entire first phrase is tutorial based. The real game play starts at phase two and beyond. The puzzles become more challenging and things need to be thought through.
Once all of the pipes are connected in the correct way, a faucet appears and can be tapped. The water starts flowing through the pipes and the level is complete. After the level is complete, the player moves on to the next level and takes on a new challenge. Each level has a new challenge to connecting the pipes. Everything learned in phase one is used in phase two and beyond to complete the puzzles.
Over all, Aqueduct is fun. The first phase is not challenging, but if players stick with it, they will get to the more challenging puzzles. The challenging puzzles take a little more thought. The game is fun for players that enjoy puzzle games. Each level can be played in a short amount of time making the game good for passing the time while waiting for something.
