Merscom has announced the upcoming title Masquerade Mysteries: The Case of the Copycat Curator for the PC and the Mac. The game is an adventure game that has players tracking down art thieves.

Players take on the role of Private Investigator Joy Black as she tries to track down a crew of art thieves. Joy has to gather objects through out the game and use the objects to make different costumes to allow her to go deeper into the Natural History Museum.  Joy will have to solve puzzles and mysteries along the way, as well. The puzzles and mysteries will help Joy learn of the museum’s secrets.

“Masquerade Mysteries builds on gameplay our customers love with the twist that you use clothing items you find to create a disguise,” explained Lloyd Melnick, Chief Customer Officer at Merscom.

Bejeweled Turns Ten

Bejeweled has turned ten and PopCap is celebrating with 10 months of activities. The ten months will have PopCap introducing new installments in the Bejeweled lineup, holding the first-ever community-wide competition for Bejeweled Blitz, and staging exciting promotional activities such as the upcoming “Show Your Bejeweled Love” contest.

“Bejeweled has obviously succeeded beyond our wildest dreams,” said Jason Kapalka, co-creator of the game and co-founder and chief creative officer at PopCap. “When Brian Fiete, John Vechey and I built the game ten years ago, we had no grand aspirations for it or PopCap, we were trying to survive as a company during the depths of the dot-com collapse. Little did we know we’d still be selling copies of Bejeweled a decade later!”

Bejeweled was originally released as Diamond Mine and has sold over 350 million copies on just about every platform available. Bejeweled can even be found in the back of the seats on air planes. There really isn’t anywhere Bejeweled has not be ported to. Not to mention it created a new genre of casual game that has been duplicated over and over again.

If you enjoy Bejeweled and want to take part in the celebrations, head over to PopCap’s web site and see what is going on.

Farm Zombies On The iPhone

The Playforge has announced the release of Zombie Farm for the iPhone/iPod Touch. The game combines two popular types of games, simulation farming games and tower defense games. The catch is, players don’t try and stop the zombies from invading their land, instead they raise the zombie army to invade the enemy.

Players make money by farming crops and then selling the crops for a profit. The money is used to make the farm great. Players will also plant their zombie army as well. When the army is ready they will harvest the zombies and send them off to invade neighboring territories. Players can combine plants and zombies to get a mutant breed.

“Tower defense games have become wildly popular, we wanted to create a game where you play the other side trying to overwhelm the defenders, while keeping the game as casual as possible,” says Vince McDonnell creator of Zombie Farm. “This game broadens the horizon of conventional farming sims, here is a farming game where users can farm toward a different goal beyond farming veggies for gold.”

If you are into simulation farm games with a twist, try Zombie Farm. Zombie Farm is free so there is nothing to lose.

Postman Pat Review

Postman Pat is a puzzle game for the iPhone/iPod Touch. The puzzles consist of a few different types of mini-games. Sometimes players will have to stamp envelopes as they are coming off of a conveyor belt and other times they will have to match two letters going to the same person. Each game requires the user to attain a certain amount of points.

The points the player needs to advance to the next level is given to the player before the game starts. If the player is not able to attain the allotted number of points, the level will need to be played again. The player can keep playing until they pass the level. In Story Mode players can not progress to the next mini game until the one they are on is complete.

The mini games are not too difficult, but some of them take some getting use to. The stamping of envelopes took a time or two to get use to touching the stamp in the correct spot. If the player touched the envelope in the wrong spot the stamp would go over the address, which would result in no points for the envelope.

The touch controls work well and the game never mis-registered a touch. The touch mechanisms are easy to use and make it easy to navigate through the game.

Over all, Postman Pat is a fun set of mini games that will keep players entertained for a while. The game is set up perfectly for short bursts of game play. Players can play much longer, but each mini game can be played in a matter of minutes, which makes them convenient for waiting in line or for an appointment. Players that like puzzle games in the form of mini games can’t go wrong with Postman Pat.
