New Puzzle Game For The Wii

city-builderCollision Studios and Virtual Play Games have announced the upcoming release of City Builder for the Nintendo Wii. Players have to stack water pipes, roads and power lines to build cities.

It may sound easy to build cities, but there would be no game if it was too easy. City Builder adds a new dimension to the pipe building games, they add three different levels to build in. The three levels are road, underground (water mains) and sky (power lines). Players have to balance all three different levels to make their city run and function accordingly. Players have to beat the clock and avoid obstacles. Every time a player solves a resource puzzle, the city grows bigger and bigger in different ways.

“Collision has an excellent track record of creating fun, playable games from both original and licensed IP,” said Cameron Madani, head of business development at Virtual Play Games. “City Builder is a fantastically addicting game.”

City Builder will be available in February 2010.

Flash Game: Shields of Gemlands

shields-gemlandShields of Gemland is a flash based match three game. The object of the game is to collect three gems on each level. The gems are hidden among colored balls and the balls must be cleared by matching three of the same color.

To clear the balls, players shoot colored balls out of a cannon attempting to make matches. The balls lower as time goes on and if the balls hit the line, the game is over and the player must restart the level. The levels have a bit of a puzzle aspect to them. If players can manage to clear the “right” balls it will lead to more balls clearing and the board will clear itself, but it is not that easy to find those matches. The moving balls adds urgency and it takes some patience to sit there and watch for the perfect match.

Shileds of Gemland contains a story line that accompanies the game as well and the graphics are not bad. The game offers a fun way to past the time. If you are into match three games, check out Shields of Gemlands.

Dragon Age: Journeys Announced

Bioware has announced a browser-based version of Dragon Age: Origins, called Dragon Age: Journeys, developed by “EA 2D, BioWare, and some of the hottest indie talent from the flash developer community.”

We have some big plans for Journeys. The first piece that we are currently building is a 3 chapter, single player, tactical rpg delivered in Flash. Right now we’re hard at work finishing the first chapter, Dragon Age Journeys: The Deep Roads. The game will introduce you to the dwarven city of Orzammar and the Deep Roads surrounding it where the dwarves face a persistent threat from the darkspawn hordes.

The flash game will serve as a prequel to Origins. There is no release date yet for The Deep Roads, but it looks like a fantastic way to play Dragon Age on the go, with some Heroes of Might & Magic-style gameplay.

Let us know what you think.

(Thanks, Digital Battle.)
