zumas-revengeZuma is coming back for another round of marble popping madness in Zuma’s Revenge. PopCap announced the upcoming release of Zuma’s Revenge for the PC and Mac. It is exciting to see the Mac version ready the same time the PC version is released. Not all companies release games on both platforms or at the same time.

“The original Zuma has millions of fans around the world,” said Jason Kapalka, co-founder and Creative Director at PopCap, “so there was a lot of pressure when doing the sequel to really deliver something they’d love, without wrecking the classic Zuma gameplay. Zuma’s Revenge! adds a ton of variety to the mix, with over 60 new maps, all new power-up balls like the Laser Frog and Lightning Color Nuke, and a half dozen custom ‘boss battles’ against giant, evil tiki spirits. Plus we’ve added several new modes, including a speedy ‘blitz’-style challenge game and the fearsome Iron Frog gauntlet for the most elite players.”

In Zuma, players take on the roll of a marble shooting frog. The goal of the game is to match three of the same colored marbles, which causes them to disappear. When all the marbles are gone the level is complete. If the marbles back up and reach the exit hole, the game is over and the level has to be played again. Zuma’s Revenge introduces new game machinics, new power ups and new modes. PopCap has updated the graphics as well. The new graphics in the game allow for more screen resolution, wide screen support and 3 D particle effects.

Zuma’s Revenge is set to be released September 15th and will sell for $19.95.

Trixel Review

Trixel is a great puzzle game for the iPhone/iPod Touch. The goal of the game is to solve the puzzles in as few moves as possible. There is a puzzle at the top of the screen that serves as the basis for the player to solve their puzzle. The colors have to match the reference puzzle. trixel

Players change the colors of their puzzle by touching the squares. A square has two colors and the square flips when it is touched, which causes it to change color. The challenge to the puzzle game is getting the squares to have the correct colors in the least moves possible. It is possible to back yourself into a corner and have to touch a square that was already the correct color. If this happens, the player will have to touch the square again to turn it back to the correct color. Each time a square is touched it counts as a move.

Players have to get at least a bronze on every puzzle or they will not be able to progress to the next puzzle. As the puzzles go on, they get more and more difficult to solve. The puzzles start to get warps on the squares. The warp points warp you to another part of the puzzle board and change the color of the square in the process. Not only to players have to plan their moves, but they have to watch out for warps and other hinderences.

Over all, Trixel is a really fun and addicting puzzle game. Players have to plan out their moves in order to complete the puzzles and get a bronze medal. The puzzles get more and more challenging, but the fun does not go away. Trixel is a great fit for the iPhone/iPod Touch because you can play a puzzle in a short amount of time. Granted the addicting nature of the game may make it hard to just solve one puzzle. If you are into puzzle games, definitely check out Trixel.
