Amazing Heists: Dillinger is a hidden object game for the PC that is a bit different from other hidden object games. The point of finding the objects in this game is so you can rob banks. The story follows the life of John Dillinger, the famous bank robber. Dillinger was so successful at robbing banks because he had a method to his madness.

Most locations in the game require the player to take the same type of motions. Players will always “case” the “joint” first, which really means find out all there is to know about the bank you are intending to rob. The way players case the joint is by finding hidden objects. All the objects need to be found before time runs out or the player loses the level and has to start over. If you need to start over, the list of objects to find changes. The hidden object search, normally, takes place outside the bank at this stage.

All of the hard work of finding out everything there is to know about the bank leads to actually robbing the bank. Before players can rob the bank, they need to control the workers and the customers inside the bank. Can’t have anyone escaping and alerting the police. Stopping anyone from escaping the bank is fairly easy, take the bank robbers and put them in the way of the exits. In the beginning levels, there is one bank robber that stays stationary and one bank robber that can move. The moving bank robber has the option to collect coins as they appear, but must still stop people from escaping. These levels in the game are fairly simple to play and I am not really sure what the point was. There really was no challenge to stopping the employees or customers from leaving the bank.

Everything about the bank is known, the customers/employees have been handled, now it is time to rob the bank. Players rob the bank by finding the list of objects in a bank setting. All of the items need to be found before time runs out or the bank robbery was not successful and the player has to start over again. There are bonus items scattered around the levels, too.

Besides finding the objects on the list, there are letters of Dillinger’s name scattered throughout all of the stages at the location. If players can manage to spell Dillinger’s name, they get bonus money at the end of the levels. There are wanted posters, money and bank safes that will also add extra money at the end if all of the items are found. The bonus items appear in the first stage of casing the joint and in the bank robbery itself.

After players have managed to successfully find all of the items on the list at the bank robbery, the money is still not theirs. Everyone knows banks keep most of the money locked away in the safe. Players must crack the safe before they can get at all of the big money. Players use five colored keys to crack the safe and need to guess the order the keys are in before the safe will open. The catch is each time a key is placed in the wrong hole all of the keys are reset. Players need to remember the key holes and the keys that matched. Of course, the players must match all five keys to the correct key holes before time runs out or the bank job was not successful.

One feature that sets Amazing Heists: Dillinger apart from other hidden object games is players can pick a gang member before the bank robbery begins. Each gang member will add something to the gang, such as more time on a hidden object level or more time while cracking the safe. The game starts with a few gang members to choose from and the rest need to be unlocked by completing bank robberies.

The graphics in Amazing Heists: Dillinger are appealing and high quality, but there was an item or two that the picture was not all that great for the item. The locations all fit the theme and at one point players even search the place they are using or their hide out.

Over all, Amazing Heists: Dillinger is a fun, but challenging hidden object game. Players will get a taste of the life of John Dillinger and can choose whether they play in timed mode or relaxed mode. Players can take as long as they want to find items in relaxed mode. The game offers a good story and enough different features that you don’t feel like you are just playing yet another hidden object game.
