PickTeams has announced the release of their newest game PocketTowers, a multi-player tower defense game. PickTeams was started by a few folks while in college. The idea was to turn the popular casual games into mult-player games, but on a big scale. Instead of just player vs player it was a team vs a team and each team could have four players on it. The initial games got a lot of attention and feedback. PickTeams learned from their first game and made Alphablitz a boggle type team based game. Teams can compete to make the most words possible.

Alphablitz has done well and is a fun game, but PickTeams has decided to step it up a notch and make a tower defense game that teams can play. There can be up to four teams playing at one time and each team can have four players making for a huge tower defense game. Imagine a tower defense game with that many players and now you participate in one.

The number of tower defense boards depends on the number of teams. Each team gets their own tower defense board to play on. The more players the more strategy involved. Players have to communicate with each other to make sure towers are going up correctly and in the right spot. The players have to manage the money, as well. Each team has to defend against an onslaught of enemies.

The catch in this tower defense is the opponent can send an extra wave of enemies your way. Players have to balance working together and sending the enemies towards their opponents at the right time so their opponents are overwhelmed and can’t keep up. As you can see, team based tower defense games adds an entirely new dimension to the world of tower defense games.
