Something Amiss is a free flash-based adventure game. In this mystery game, you play Alice, a woman who goes in for an routine MRI scan and wakes up to find herself locked inside a seemingly abandoned hospital. You must use your wits and what ever objects you have at hand to unravel what has happened to Alice.
Something Amiss uses a point and click interface that allows Alice to interact with her environment. To move, you simply click the mouse where you want Alice to go on the screen. If you move your cursor over an object and the cursor turns red, this means that Alice can interact with the object somehow. If you hold down the mouse button it will bring up a menu with option such as Examine, Talk To, Pick up, and so on.
The game is set in chapters, with the first chapter set in the locked MRI room. You have to figure out how to “McGyver” a way past the locked doors with whatever you can scrounge up in the room. Once you have escaped, you are given a password that will let you in to the next chapter, and so on.
The graphics for Something Amiss are cell shaded, slightly Anime, and very Film Noir. Perfect for a mystery/puzzle type of game. The controls and interface are very intuitive, and will become second nature in no time.
There is a lot to explore and discover in this game, but there are plenty of hints to help you out if you get stuck. If you like adventure/mystery games such as Hotel Dusk for the Gameboy DS, then you will love Something Amiss. Something Amiss is a lot of fun to play and I have purposely left some of the game play out of the review in order not to ruin the mystery behind the game, so check out Something Amiss and find out the mystery for yourself.
