Blockdot has announced the release of Word Duel, a word game for members of the Micrsoft Live Search Club. Word Duel is a multi-player game where the goal of the game is to collect a group of letters and make more words than your opponent. Word Duel

Players start out by selecting the letters they want to use out of a window across the street. Players collect five, six or seven letters, depending on the round you are in. When a letter is chosen, the letter falls to the street and is replaced by a new letter. Players start building words with their collected letters.

Word Duel sounds like a fun word game with a bit of a twist. Usually, players are assigned letters, but in this game they are able to pick the letters they would like to use. Granted the letters in the windows are probably randomly chosen, but players still get a bit of control. Picking the letters could make the game easier or harder depending on the letters that come up. If your a Live Search Club member, check the game out and leave a comment letting me know if it is as fun as it sounds.

August 14, 2008 (Dallas, TX) – Dallas-based Blockdot has released “Word Duel,” an exciting multiplayer game for Microsoft’s Live Search Club. “Word Duel” joins many other awesomely addictive Blockdot-designed games in the Live Search Club library, including “Chicktionary,” Crosswire,” “Flexicon,” and “Discover the World with Matt Lauer.”

Your goal in “Word Duel”: wrangle up a group of letters and make more words than your opponent. You’ve got seven rounds to show you’re the biggest, baddest, word dueler in the West! Begin the duel by clicking/typing the letters in the windows of the saloon across the street. When you select a letter it will fall to the street below, and a new letter will appear in the window. After you have selected enough letters (five, six, or seven letters, depending on the round of play), start building your word by clicking/typing your letters in the correct order. Each time you submit a word, you’ll receive a search result powered by Microsoft’s “Live Search” technology.

You can play the wildest “Word Duel” this side of the Pecos by visiting Live Search Club at http://club.live.com/word_duel.aspx.

I have been playing the game for 2 weeks now and it is by far, my favorite. It is a clever game. Take some of the hard letters (but high point value) even if you do not need them. At the end of the game you get to use all of the letters you have collected to try and make a final, high scoring word. You need to check it out!

Just as all teir games, they cannot seem to keep things on line very long. Word Duel is great but it’s not been available all day. It never connects and Live Search Club does not have a contact site to air concerns.

I have been playing word duel foor just over two weeks now and find it easily the most fascinating of all games. In fact I have become hooked on it, but to my horror I became disconnected yesterday due to some ‘communication error’ and have been experiencing severe withdrawal symptons since then. I just can’t get pass the connection stage. Desperately in need of help.

It has been fun to play, Word Duel, however after two weeks the game has become repetitive. The same boards keep coming up. Blockdot should work on its second stage and have it become more random. You also have errors that appear when it doesn’t accept known words such as buoy, and several others. Another time, the opponent gets a go, and then when the switch is suppose to be made to their opponent the clock stays on the same side of the board. Again, the most frustrating is how often Live search cannot connect. Having no contact service with Live Search only makes the exacerbation worse.

I love this game but have been having several problems connecting. Also, their word database doesn’t recognize words that very basic. The connection also “lags” when trying to submit the words. Love, Love, Love the game but I’d love to give them feedback as well.

Hey guys, On the live game site if you click on help at the top right of the screen and scroll down there is a customer service button. It says click here, do it,send them an e-mail. Maybe if we inundate them with e-mails they’ll fix it. I need to play lol.
