Nickelodeon has decided to turn their casual gaming sites, AddictingGames and Shockwave into more of a social site. Both AddictingGames and Shockwave contain flash games for users to play and the next logical step seems to be adding chatting features and avatars to those sites. By adding those features, they can better compete with Kongregate.
The social features let players on AddictingGames and Shockwave talk and interact with each other as they play games, but Nickelodeon is not stopping there. They are adding a Create and Share option that allows users to create their own games and share them with their friends. The interface allows anyone, not only developers, to create and share games.
Seems like a good move for Nickelodeon. They want to keep gamers coming to their site to play games and one way to do that is add social mechanisms. Social gaming is where it is at, for now.
Thanks Mashable
