Obulis is a great physics/strategy game for the PC. The goal of the game is to get the colored balls into the same colored pot. The red ball needs to fall into the red pot and the blue ball needs to fall into the blue pot and so on. Depending on the level there are one, two or three different colored balls that need to fall into their respective pots. If a ball falls into the wrong colored pot or a “helper” ball falls into a colored pot the level ends and you need to try again.
Obulis may sound fairly easy and some levels are, but most levels are not. Most levels take some thought to complete. The balls take physics to get them moving. The balls are all attached to a chain and the chain is “cut” when it is selected and the space bar is pushed. Cutting the chains causes the balls to either fall or swing depending on how they are configured. Once the balls are set into motion, all kinds of things can happen, but the goal is to get the colored balls into the like colored pots. Some levels take a combination of physics and perfect timing to get the balls where they need to go.
Obulis has plenty of play time with 151 levels with various difficulties. The difficulties are very easy, easy, medium, tricky and very hard. The very hard levels are indeed very hard to solve. The different difficulties give players a different amount of stars. As the players accumulate stars, they can open up new areas on the map. The more difficult the level, the mores stars earned.
As the levels progress, there are items, such as cannons, shooting flowers and catapults, to shoot the balls out of. The items are all used to successfully get your colored ball into the colored pot. The physics involved in shooting the ball are the same as if you shot a ball in real life. The ball is shot and either falls directly into the pot or bounces off other balls along the way to set those balls in motion.
The levels are contained within three different chapters. The chapters contain all the different difficulty levels. It is possible to work your way around the map and only have tricky and very hard puzzles left to solve. If that happens, you can always move on to a different chapter and have something else to work on before going back to the harder puzzles.
The graphics are extremely amazing. The backgrounds and level art are amazing. There are different spots on the map that contain different themes. Each theme has amazing graphics that go with it. There are orient themes and water themes that are just amazing looking.
Obulis is really fun to play and challenging enough to keep you thinking. Some levels will be very challenging, but that makes it even more rewarding when you do figure out the solution. Obulis is a great value at $19.99. There is plenty of game play to keep you entertained for quite some time and the graphics are stunning. Players can not go wrong with Obulis.
