Safari Sketch, developed by Red Rover Games, is a match three game for the PC or Mac. Safari Sketch is a bit different from other match three games, since 10% of all purchases is donated to the Association of Zoo’s and Aquariums. The goal of the game is to match three of a kind and clear the green spaces from the board. The green spaces are cleared when an object is matched in that square. Players swap two objects next to each other to make a three of a kind match.
The game takes you on a safari through different places that contain endangered species. As the player completes levels in a particular area, an endangered animal for that place is entered into your journal. The endangered animal is pictured in beautiful art at the end of each level. The last level in the series will open up the journal that contains all of the endangered species unlocked up to that point in the game.
The levels can get challenging, but you are able to retry levels that you have failed without any sort of penalty. The configurations of some of the levels make them challenging, as well as the obstacles on the boards. The obstacles range from rocks that can’t be swapped to little bugs that cling to the objects making the objects stationary until a match is made next to or involving the object. The level configurations are all different types of shapes with missing blocks in the middle that makes it really hard to make a three of a kind match in that particular spot.
There is one last challenge the game throws at you and that is the timer. The player must clear all of the green squares from the level before the time runs out. This gets challenging with the level configurations and the obstacles thrown at the player. The success of the player really comes down to forward thinking and carefully picking the matches. If you have a stray green square somewhere on the board, it is really difficult to make a match and clear that square.
The graphics in Safari Sketch are amazing. The pictures of the endangered animals are depicted as artistic drawings and are nicely done. The drawings look amazing and give a real adaptation of the endangered animal. The map of the destinations you travel to on your safari is rich in detail as well.
Safari Sketch is a fun match three game. The amount of game play and the great graphics make the game worth the $19.95. Not to mention you help fund the zoos and aquariums when you purchase the game.
