Former CEO of TDK Mediactive teams with president of Realtime Associates to form a new casual game studio that will focus on music games. The new game studio is called Music Video Games (MvG). Music Video Games

MvG plans to make music-based games for casual game fans. MvG feels the casual games audience has been largely ignored by music-based games, but I will have to disagree.  I think Guitar Hero and Rock Band target casual gamers and fit into a casual game definition. Actually, both Guitar Hero and Rock Band do a good job of targeting all types of gamers from hard core gamers to casual gamers.

“MvG has been created with the goal of bringing fun and easily accessible music games to an audience that has largely remained unnoticed to this point,” said Bitetti, who is CEO of the new outfit.

The downfall to Rock Band is the availability. Rock Band is only available on console systems. Gamers that do not own a console miss out on the opportunity to play Rock Band. Guitar Hero on the other hand has appeared on many different mediums and may offer stiff competition for any music based game developed by MvG. Guess we will have to wait and see.
