In a world of first person shooters, complex RPG’s and crazy car hijacking games we’ve found a new winner in a growing genre of gaming: Rock Band. Look around, you’ll see Rock Band is the most expensive casual game on the market with a price tag of USD $169.00 for the Xbox 360 and PC (slightly cheaper on other consoles).

Viacom raises their Q1 results with strong sales of Rock Band–up 29% from last year. Although their is a huge barrier for many games to spend money on such an expensive game, regardless to the included instruments, those gamers purchasing Rock Band are inclined to re-buy downloadable content…every week.

For an additional $1.99 a song or $5.49 for a “pack” you can add new fresh content to your Rock Band gaming experiences. Oddly enough, many people do, around six million songs have been downloaded for the hot title.

Classic rockers, new rockers or punk rockers their is a bit of everything for everyone in Rock Band, casual or hardcore gamer. Like we’ve seen in the past, casual gamers do indeed play games for long hours at a time when time exists for them to do so. Have you woken up in a bit of pain after a crazy night of Rock Band drumming?

(Thanks, NextGen)
