Sky Magic is a match three game by Cronvid Interactive for the PC. Sky Magic is not your every day match three game. Players match three of a kind to get to the next level, but the board is not your typical match three board. Pieces do not fall from above and the board is not covered with objects. Instead, players have two rows of gems and clicking on a gem causes the gem in front of it to fall down a middle column. The middle column is where the matching takes place. Push three of one object into the middle and the objects will disappear.
Players are attempting to restore magic to the island as they progress through the game. Each island contains a set of levels and each island’s levels are played differently. The level is complete when all of the runes on the side of the gate are illuminated. Each time players make a match, one of the runes on the side of the gate light up. There are a few things that can change the amount of points you get for a match. The higher you stack objects in the middle the more points you will get when you complete a match. In other words, if you throw two gems into the middle and then make a match three on top of the two gems you get more points.
There are bonus items and different puzzles that creep up through out the levels. The levels on the different islands are all played differently, as previously mentioned. The levels only differ by island and all of the levels on one island are played the same. The different islands present different challenges. One island has players making three of a kind matches and introduces power ups that will explode all of the objects in the middle. Other islands have players making three of a kind matches, but only the objects displayed at the top of the screen will illuminate the runes and complete the level.
There was one issue I found with Sky Magic, some of the help screens contain broken English. For the most part, you can tell what the screens are suppose to say, but there are some screens that are very confusing. The confusion is a bit annoying because the screens are suppose to tell you what the goal of the levels are or what a certain object is used for. Over all I did figure everything out, so it wasn’t a huge issue.
The graphics in Sky Magic are aesthetically pleasing and the game play is unique, but at the same time familiar, since it is a match three game. Sky Magic is fun and entertaining. The game play was different than other match three games, which keeps it interesting.
