Armor Picross 2 is a combination between a pictogram and a crossword puzzle. The board for the game consists of a grid that is a certain size. The size really depends on the level you choose. The levels range from easy to extreme. The easy levels contain a ten by ten grid. The harder levels give you a bigger grid to work with.
The crossword part are the numbers at the top and side of the grid. The easier levels have one or two numbers and the harder levels have five or more numbers. The numbers tell you how many colored squares are in that column and row. For instances, if you have a four and two sitting on the side of the boad, you know that there are four colored squares in a row and at least a space, but could be more than a space, then two colored spaces in a row. The player clicks the empty space to make the squares turn color.
Players have fives lives for one puzzle. The lives are basically the number of times you can mess up before you lose the level. Once you mess up five times the game level is over and you have to play it again. There are many levels in Armor Picross 2, but they are spread out over the different difficulty modes.
The levels are timed, but you do not need to beat the level in a certain time. The time is just for comparisons. They give you an average time that each puzzle was solved in and it adds a competitive edge by trying to beat the average score for that puzzle.
I found Armor Picross 2 extremely addicting. I wanted to play a few boards to get a feel for the game and I just kept playing and playing and telling myself just one more level. If you are looking for a good puzzle game, check out Armor Picross 2.
