Blockside 2 is a puzzle game where the player has to lead a person to a gem that is blocked by blocks. The person is able to push blocks, but only blocks of certain types. The levels get harder by having blocks that can only be pushed in one direction and that direction is indicated on the block itself. They also throw blocks in that that are activated by switches. The player needs to push a block onto the switch and that pushes the switch down causing certain blocks to disappear. There are also blocks that only disappear when you push all medium color blocks on the board.

The levels start out with a bunch of tutorials that explain how to maneuver the blocks and which blocks can be blown up and which blocks you are not able to blow up. There are blocks that you are not able to push as well. All of these different bocks and different scenarios makes for puzzles that are not that easy to solve.
