There have been many stories in the news regarding Electronic Arts getting into the casual games market, as well as focusing on the Nintendo Wii. One of their first releases was Boogie for the Nintendo Wii.EA Logo

So far Boogie has not been a stellar release for the Nintendo Wii. There have only been 68,000 units sold this month, which is not a great number. Is this really a bad number or is it too early to tell?

Casual gamers, may not be like hardcore games and jump on the games as soon as they come out. Casual gamers only play games for short periods at a time so maybe some casual gamers have not found the time to go get the Wii title. The other option is Boogie appeals to a small section of people. Only people that like dance games will buy Boogie.

Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian added, “I would characterize Boogie as an experiment, and part of their bigger plan to build share on Wii and grow the casual games portfolio. It seems that Boogie appeals to a fairly narrow audience, whereas titles like Playground or Spore could have broader appeal.”
