Europe is going through their first round of Xbox 360 price cuts and the marketing campaign Microsoft is using seems to be a great test model for the US. Their are three branded boxes and cute marketing terms to go with each:
The marketing paperwork confirms the European price model and terms to go with each console. The latest rumor is the fact that we, in the United States may be getting an Arcade version of the console as well.
The arcade SKU looks to be a re-named core model with a bundled 256MB flash card and five free arcade games. This clearly is an attempt to scoop up casual gamers on the fence between a hard to find Wii and a lower priced Xbox 360. Just in time for the holiday season this box could turn some heads.
The core, with latest price reduction, isn’t too far off from the cost of the Wii. The flash card brings it closer to the specifications of a Wii and the five free arcade titles would be there to match the Wii Sports pack-in.
Nintendo, Microsoft is coming for you, how will you respond?
