5 Realms of Cards is a cross between Solitaire and a puzzle game. The game takes place in a fairy tail realm. You need to free a realm before moving on to the next realm. The realms are the five suites of cards. 5 Realms of Cards

Levels have different objectives to complete. Some levels require that you clear all of the “closed” cards, closed cards are cards in a pile. Other levels require you to get a certain number of spades and still others have you bring all of the face cards to the bottom of the screen.

To clear a level, you need to match cards. You match cards to a higher than itself or lower than itself value. For instance, you can start with an Ace and match it to the next highest card, a four on some levels, then you can match a four to another Ace or a three and you keep the line going until you can’t match any more numbers. The game calls this “chaining”. If you complete a long chain, you get extra points. Long chains consist of 15 or more cards.

Once a level is complete you go on to complete a mini game. The mini games vary. Some times you have to focus on the ace as it moves all over the screen and then determine where it is when it stops moving. Other mini games you have to remember where the ace is. All of the cards flip over and you have to locate the Ace or Aces.

5 Realms of Cards also has trophies to win. You win trophies by getting five hundred cards, getting five or more chains of fifteen cards, reaching a score of ten thousand, and other goals of that nature.

Screenshot from casual game 5 realms of cardsAs you play, there is a suite that gets completed. In the first level this suite is a spade. The more spades you get in your chain the more the spade on the side of the screen fills up. Once it is full, all of the spades on the board disappear. This can help uncover cards that you can’t get to match with other cards around it.

To make the matching more difficult, they throw in frozen cards and blank cards. Both the frozen and blank cards, need to have matches around them to unfreeze or fill in the blank cards.

The graphics in 5 Realms of Cards are appealing. The cards are polished and look really nice and the map is like you are in a fairy tale. The music also helps paint the picture of a fairy tale.

I found the game enjoying to play. I liked the challenge of trying to get a long chain. Achieving long chains is very similar to solving a puzzle. You need to map out in your head where you would like to move so you are able to get the longest chain possible.
