Peter Moore, the icon of Xbox games, has announced that he is leaving Microsoft. Peter will is taking with Electronic Arts (EA) Sports division. Moore wishes to live back in Northern California where he was living before taking the job at Microsoft.

“Peter has contributed enormously to the games business since joining Microsoft in 2003 and we are sad to see him go,” said Robbie Bach, president of Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. “Since that time, he presided over the global launch of the Xbox 360″, spearheaded a revitalized and rebranded Games for Windows business, and helped steer the console’s ascent.”

Don Mattrick will be taking Peter Moore’s place at Microsoft. Don use to be the president of EA. This is a strange turn of events. It is almost like they are switching jobs, except Peter Moore will not be the president of EA.
