In this upcoming Sony exclusive title, Little Big Planet, a few folks ask “what’s the point?” when gathering their impressions. Those at Kotaku still haven’t figured out what the point of the game is, from the simple demo they were given.
I think the one safe thing to assume is that Little Big Planet is a cute little casual game. “The guys showing the game showed us how you can create things and put them into the world and play with them, but in the end it was all rather vague.” What is the point in showing bloggers and journalists a demonstration of your upcoming title if they all leave with more questions than it started?
Much like Lost gamers left the demonstration wondering if it’s going to be cool or a flop. The concept…well, we don’t know the concept, but you can build things and share them with other players. Sony confirmed there would be playable levels in the game (…duh?) and that you could unlock items which could be used to “play with.”
My impressions from what I’m reading is the game may be more like playing in a sandbox… you just build stuff. But who really knows? Sony said they’d release more info at the Tokyo Game Show (TGS). Seems kinda silly to wait until TGS to explain the plot and point of the game.
Maybe Little Big Planet‘s demo was truly like a season of Lost after all (with less water)….
