Fortunately, big places like ESPN are catching on to the casual game craze. Unfortunately, not all PC’s can run these Flash applications. I’ve never seen a flash application require a “3D Accelerator” but espn.go.com has limited my ability to play their games on one of my older systems.

This might not seem like a big deal, but when do gamers that casually game usually have a few spare minutes to do so? It seems like a great lunch time event while at work.
If you’ve worked in any tech field for a few years you’ll realize the PC’s don’t get updated all that often. This specific PC is roughly four years old and doesn’t have “3D acceleration” (or so I guess).
I’m not a flash programmer nor do I play one on TV but it seems to me that a game running in my browser window should not need 3D hardware acceleration to be playable. What do you think? I think it will limit the audience and doing so will limit the advertisement effectiveness… you’ll notice that ESPN’s casual game site is covered with ad banners and pre-rolling ads.
